R/Me or R/E
Ive read a ton of things about these two and I'm still not sure which to pick. What are each good at? What would my role be in a fight if i were R/Me or R/E

Well ive been both (as a mather of fact i just switched 2ndary profession)...
The reason i switched was that the only elementalist skill worth it was conjure, and i wanted to try out something else...
So i switched to Mesmer, and i chose for a DoT build... i played some PvP and some PvE with it, and i can only say WHOW... especially in PvE the DoT is just great... giving the enemy a degen of 9 (conjure phantasm + poison arrow) is great... i finally started feeling in PvP that i really contributed some...
The only problem i have atm, is that Conjure Phantasm with a cost of 10 energy can be costy at some points, so im gonna see if there either is an alternative (maybe as R/Necro), or i could switch to disrupting..
---
IMO it doesnt really matter THAT much since you'll be mostly useing ranger skills anyway (as a matter of fact i started out as ranger/elementalist, and from yaks bend untill i switched profession i havent really used any elementalist skills (but then again, i didnt come across any fiery bowstrings )

I found a interesting R/Me build earlier that used Fragility, Incendiary Arrows, pin down, hunters shot, throw dirt, conjure phantasm, phantom pain and one more i cant think of. It required 12 in expertise, 12 in marks and 10 in illusion i think (maybe 11). Can anyone link me to this page cuz i havnt been able to find it and ive been looking for almost 20 minutes

I think that was under one of the posts complaining about rangers stinking and someone had responded back that they are doing very well with theirs.

My third char is a R/Mes and I am using Conjure Phantasm(Damage) & Ether Feast(Healing) along with Ignite Arrows, Dual Shot, and Penetrating Shot and I haven't died yet. Able to go toe to toe if necessary(Conjure Phantasm a plus), but generally hang back and rain arrows down from a distance. Currently Level 9 in Post-Searing.

Conjure phantasm is a great spell in the stages you are in, but later in the game is is just a nice DoT to help out with things. You'll need to concentrate your build I suspect in the later game, as you have at least 5 attributes running right now. Mesmer is a nice secondary to ranger though, as the ranger is an excellent disruptor to start with, and a few easy mesmer abilities improve it to no end (Arcane Conundrum for example)

R/ME is definatley a better build unless you plan to only hit the enemy front lines of warriors or rangers... i use backfire and empathy right now, but im planning on revising, likely swapping backfire out for power spike or something like that...

Yeah, I have been re-thinking the whole thing and I am considering dumping Wilderness Survival and dropping everything else into Expertise, Marksmanship, and either illusion or Inspiration or a happy split between the 2. I like the Ether Feast skill as it is good for healing and with dumping Wilderness I won't have a good Troll Unguent for healing. Maybe I need to sit down and re-think this whole character. Did some more thinking and maybe I will go for Domination as I can do some real disruption with those spells and as long as I have a good Healer in my group I should be ok. Especially if I hang back from the front lines.

I've been using a R/E since I've started. I haven't found a good fit yet for the Elementalist side. I have trouble with my energy since all of the Ele skills I have found so far cost 10 and up (except for one). I'm still fairly early on the game at lev11 with lev10 stalker. What skills for Ele or Ranger would help out with energy? Like regen or cap? I am considering switching to R/Me for disruption (I enjoy the challenge).

for my build (a magekiller/sniper) im concentrating mostly on marksmenship... with a good amount of expertise, and a bit of domination magic and wilderness survival.... the inspiration and illusion lines hold some helpful skills, like ether feast, but truly if your tyring to be a damage dealer in stead of a survivor, you should go for domination...
true, some inspiration just for such skills couldn't hurt, but its not as important i think.

I don't see anyone praising Chaos Storm, one of my favorite Me skills as a 20 R/Me.
-10/sec on clustered groups of enemy can really do some damage, its fun to see a whole heard of beasts drop together.
